Our club recently contacted District #5980 in Texas, to see how people could contribute to the relief efforts being provided by Rotarians in the US and from around the world, to help the victims of the devastating Hurricane Harvey. Please note the reply below, and feel free to share with fellow Rotarians, family members, and friends.
Thank you for your concern and support of Houston Rotary District 5890 during our Recovery from Hurricane Harvey. Harvey was devastating to Houston and our surrounding communities. It will likely take years and many billions of dollars to fully recover from the storm’s effects.
Our immediate need is for funds to help pay for the clean-up and rebuilding of our devastated homes and property. There are three ways to assist District 5890 financially.
First, through the Rotary Foundation, we have established The Gulf Coast Disaster Relief Fund #608. This is a Donor Advised Fund through our Rotary Foundation. Please see the attached flyer for information about the DAF and how to contribute to the fund. Click here to download the flyer.
Secondly, you may make a contribution directly to Houston District 5890 through our own 501c3, Rotary District 5890 Charities, Inc., EIN # 76-0569758. Please see the attached flyer for information on how to send money to our District Charities account. Click here to download the flyer.
Finally, you may make a contribution to Disaster Aid USA (DAUSA) which is a disaster recovery group run by Rotarians. This is a boots on the ground operation cleaning up flooded homes. Please see the attached DAUSA flyer for information on how to donate to the Harvey recovery effort through Disaster Aid USA. Click here to download the flyer.
Thank you again for your support of Houston Rotary District 5890 and our recovery efforts for Rotarians and all of Houston and our surrounding communities. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
