An Interact Club is a service club for youth sponsored by a Rotary club, which provides support and guidance. Interact is one of Rotary’s fastest growing programs with a membership of over 250,000 youth in more than 11,000 clubs worldwide. Interact’s name is a combination of the words international and action. The clubs are self-governing and self-supporting and can be either school or community-based. Interact’s global youth network is dedicated to the community and international service. Every Interact club project, great or small, has a lasting impact on society worldwide. Here in Newtown, the Rotary Club sponsors 3 Interact Clubs; one at the High School, one at the Middle School, and one at Reed Intermediate School. All three clubs are very active in providing service to those in need. Although each club identifies and conducts it’s own service projects, each year there are a few events like the Rotary Pancake Breakfast and the Reed School Interact Blood Drive where the clubs come together to support each other.
